Tennessee. Oil Change With Your Oxy?

Counterfeit pills like these are responsible for countless overdose deaths across the country. People think they are taking oxycodone but are actually taking unregulated (and sometimes fatal) doses of heroin and/or fentanyl. Unfortunately, this industry is simply the supply responding to the demand.

This particular trend will likely entice long-term opioid users who need extreme pain relief simply to function. Many of these individuals are currently being denied their pain medication in a misguided attempt in the medical arena to combat the opioid crisis. Hurting and desperate, these former patients have nowhere else to turn.

History shows that many heroin users started as prescription opioid users. As long as heroin/fentanyl laced pills are available on the black market, they will be an extreme risk for any opioid user, even more so than heroin in its real form.

Again, the pills are laced, people are desperate, and I believe that this movement will be another significant factor in this national epidemic.
