It's hard to imagine that another country with modern medicine would not learn from the mistakes of the United States.

Mundipharma, a Chinese affiliate company owned by the Sacklers, is now pushing OxyContin in China. They are actually using the same tactics they used to take the US down...advocating its effectiveness and underplaying the dangers. There is a fascinating relationship between the traditionally strong anti-drug culture in China and the increasing prevalence of opioids. Unfortunately, just like the U.S., history and tradition is no match for OxyContin.

In 2007, in accordance with a lawsuit brought on by U.S. prosecutors, Purdue Pharma admitted that it's employs were falsely claiming that long-acting opioids were less addictive than regular ones. Purdue also agreed that it's employees would never make those claims again in the US.

Now, 12 years and hundreds of thousands of overdose deaths later, those exact same claims are being made by Mundipharma employees to doctors and patients in China today.

The Sacklers are a slimy bunch. We have to get in front of them before they pop out of the next gopher hole and work to destroy yet another country.

This article from the AP yesterday is one of the most compelling I have read regarding the corruption and greed of one family.
