"I Can Beat You"

I stumbled upon this article from 2010. A young girl so convinced she was done using that she wrote this poignant poem telling heroin to go to hell. Three weeks later she died of an overdose.

Heroin addicts aren't bullshitting us when they say they are done using. They really are. Then the devil slowly creeps back in, taunting, begging, and luring it's recovering victims back into it's grip. This poem is a stark reminder to me, as the mom of a heroin addict, how desperate so many users are to quit.

This is what heroin does: It ruins lives, destroys families, and it calls its victims back over and over again.
