When I think of how scared, vulnerable, alone, betrayed, angry, remorseful, and guilt-ridden I have felt since my son's overdose, I cannot imagine how a precious child would feel toward their heroin addicted parent. The emotional toll would be extraordinary. Our parents are supposed to be our protectors.
From the first day of my life, my mom has always been my rock. She is the first one I call in good times and in bad times. She has always been there for me, without fail. Most of our mom's are that way, our number one fan. Children without that support suffer deeply.
I really hope this beautiful mom is able to stop using heroin. Her children need her more than she understands right now. She should also thank her daughter for saving her life.
