Losing our Children

I am so saddened to hear that the mayor of Nashville lost her only son this weekend to an apparent drug overdose. He was a recent college graduate who lived here in Denver. Details have not been released but there is apparently enough immediate info to call it an overdose.
My heart goes out to this family, I cannot imagine the pain to lose a child to an overdose, especially an only child and one who seemed to be doing well. I feel like I stood at the edge of that cliff and only by the grace of God was able to back away this time. That family did not have that opportunity. They didn't choose to jump though, they were pushed.
Sam, if you read this and I think you will, I love you with all my heart and soul. I can't wait to see you. I wait for you with open arms. We all do. You can do this. You have more love and support than you ever imagined.
I hold onto hope for my beautiful boy. He is amazing and funny and sweet and the family clown. Where there is life, there is hope. #notmykidohhellno #nomoreshame
