If I Could Turn Back Time

If I could turn back time, so many things I would do differently. I know I didn’t cause Sam’s heroin addiction, can’t control it, and can’t cure it but if I knew then what I know now, I would have made different choices in hopes for a different outcome. He was such a sweet boy who loved army guys and dinosaurs and food. Now he is a a kind young man addicted to heroin.
I just pulled this out of a box I had stored at my sister’s for more than three years. I am the one who taught Sam to write his name. He struggled to learn it and wrote it hundreds of times between the lines of outlines I made for him. Pages and pages.
I love that little signature so much. It brought tears to my eyes to see it again. Life is short. Hold on to your loved ones.
