Grandma Time

Visit number four included my mom who is visiting from Minnesota. We made the trip Monday just in time to beat the snowstorm. It had been nearly two years since Grandma Jo and Sam had seen each other.

My mom made a fun addition to the visit. She was very curious and also very liberal in her questions. She had us laughing and then she also noticed that we were actually the only table joking around and having fun. She wondered about that too.

She looked Sam straight in the eye and asked him if he was using drugs in prison. He assured her he isn't. I believe him. I think she does too.

I now understand that my resilience through Sam's heroin addiction and its dark aftermath comes directly from her. I am grateful.
